In September 2025, Christopher Lamont Allen, a coach counselor at Desert Lily Academy, was arrested after a 17-year-old resident reported that Allen allegedly sexually assaulted her twice. Video footage confirmed Allen and the victim entering the closet twice.

In July 2025, Wendell Whyte was sentenced to 20 years in prison for allegedly organizing a sex trafficking scheme, involving three youth residents from Desert Lily.
